  • Verifying the number and consent

This is the one step in the whole setup you do not do yourself. The code goes to the called person and they confirm it.

    0:00 / --:--

How a number is verified, and what confirming the code agrees to.

It is not an extra formality. Calling without the recipient's consent would have no legal basis, so until somebody confirms the code the service places no call — not even a test one.

    Before you start

Your own e-mail address must be confirmed. Until it is, the verification button reports that it cannot proceed; it is a safeguard against messages going out to other people's numbers from hastily created accounts.

Only Czech numbers (+420) can be verified so far.

    How it goes

    1. You start verification on the profile — it is offered as soon as the profile is created, and otherwise sits beside the telephone number.
    2. A text message with a code goes to the number, along with the text the called person agrees to by confirming it. For a landline an automated voice calls instead and reads out both the code and the consent.
    3. The called person reads the code to you and you type it into the application.
    4. The number is verified and calls start being scheduled.

    The message looks like this:

QueryBeam: kod 123456. Potvrzenim souhlasite, ze vam muze volat automaticky asistent a ze se hovor nahrava. Cele zneni: querybeam.eu/pravni/souhlas-volani

Without diacritics on purpose — with them the message would split into three parts, which can arrive out of order or incomplete.

The full wording is in Consent to Telephone Questioning. It is worth reading before you send anybody the message — it is exactly what that person is agreeing to.

What the called person consents to

    • that an automated assistant may call them on this number,
    • that a recording and transcript are made and answers extracted from them,
    • that you will see their answers,
    • and, where the questions concern health, to the processing of health data.

The called person may withdraw consent at any time — during a call, or at info@querybeam.eu. They need not give a reason and it has no consequences for them.

After a withdrawal the scheduled calls disappear from the plan. You see it on the Calls page before that hour arrives.

    Changing the number

Consent is tied to one particular telephone number. If you change it on the profile, the verification falls and has to be done again with the new number. That is deliberate: the number may since have been taken over by somebody who consented to nothing.

No message and no error either? Try the Send again button; it becomes available after a short delay, which the application counts down.
